Jim Pursiano - San Francisco

Jim Pursiano is a Managing Director at Reynolds Advisory Partners and has over 20 years of mergers and acquisitions experience as both an investment banker and corporate development executive at major multinationals. Mr. Pursiano was a Managing Director with Onyx Associates a San Francisco-based middle market boutique investment bank from 2008-2010.

From 1999 to 2008 Mr. Pursiano served as Managing Director in Applied Materials’ Corporate Business Development Group. Applied Materials ( NASDAQ: AMAT) with a market capitalization of over $17 billion, is the global leader in providing innovative equipment, services and software to the semiconductor, flat panel display and solar photovoltaic industries . Mr. Pursiano joined Applied Materials to help build the firm’s Corporate Development and M&A capabilities conceptualizing and executing M&A transactions between $10 million and $2 billion in total enterprise value. Aside from buyside activities Jim led a number of important sellside divestiture assignments, joint ventures, IP licensing and other partnering transactions.

To date, Mr. Pursiano has completed over 40 M&A transactions globally worth over $3 billion in the areas of enabling technology, IP acquisitions, hardware, software (primarily process equipment and manufacturing execution systems), services, and clean industry solutions with a main focus on the photovoltaic (PV) market.   • Negotiated the divestiture of Applied Materials cleanroom consumables business to Origin Outsourcing (Scotland) and Basan GmbH (Europe and SEA)
  • Negotiated the cross border formation of a new $150 million semiconductor lithography company, Sokudo KK in Japan, between Applied Materials and Dainippon Screen
  • Negotiated the asset acquisition of semiconductor fab services company, Metron Technology NV (Dutch registered) for $85 million
  • Negotiated the $30 million stock acquisition of Chemtrace, a fab equipment cleaning company
  • Negotiated the minority investment and exclusive patent license with a cleaning equipment company, SCP Global Technologies, Inc.
  • Negotiated the $35 million asset acquisition of ATMI’s Treatment and Abatement Systems Business
  • Negotiated the $35 million stock acquisition of Electron Vision, an electron beam curing company
  • Advising ImpactGames, an e-learning company, in its asset sale to Hybrid Learning

In the 1990’s, Mr. Pursiano served for 8 years at Chevron Chemical’s International Business Development Group. In this role, Mr. Pursiano was a part of team developing a new $750 million world-scale petrochemical project in Saudi Arabia with the Saudi Industrial Venture Capital Group, a venture group in Saudi comprised of business leaders in the Kingdom. His role was to handle all the economic valuation and project financing activities where over $500 million were placed with an international loan syndicate and the Saudi Industrial Development Fund. Mr. Pursiano also explored M&A and other development opportunities in Venezuela, Mexico, Singapore, and other Middle Eastern countries, and numerous chemical divestitures in oilfield chemicals and consumer products.

Mr. Pursiano received an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago. He previously earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.
