Susan L. Field

Susan Field, Managing Director, has a unique breadth of experience in industry and on Wall Street. She has been CFO of pre- and post IPO companies, SVP of a Fortune 50 multi-segment company, and Managing Director for Merrill Lynch where she served as the Retail Industry Practice Head in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group in New York. During her 13 year tenure at Merrill, Ms. Field closed over 85 M&A transactions and financings worth over $40 billion. Starting in 2003, Ms. Field has partnered with major consulting firms to provide strategic and M&A advice to corporations and private equity firms. As a Managing Director at Reynolds Advisory Partners and the Managing Partner of Sneffels Consulting, Ms. Field leverages the experience she has gained throughout her career to provide personalized, thoughtful and targeted advice to a broad array of clients. Ms. Field received an A.B. from Harvard in 1981 with distinction and an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia in 1985. She earned a CPA in Colorado in 2003.

Ms. Field’s prior advisory experience:

  • Merrill Lynch & Co. (1985-1997) where she was both a generalist and the Retail Industry Practice Head in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group in New York. Ms. Field became the third woman Managing Director out of 125 worldwide in 1996. Upon her departure to one of her clients, Merrill was ranked #1 in Retail M&A. At Merrill, Ms. Field completed over 85 transactions for over $40 billion including the sale and subsequent IPO of Snapple, an emerging consumer beverage company.
  • Salomon Brothers Inc. (1981-1983) where she published her own bi-weekly institutional periodical, “Flow Watch”, and co-authored several special situation research reports on the equity markets.
  • A.T. Kearney Associated Consultant in the Consumer and Retail Practice (2003-2005) where she advised corporate and private equity clients on a variety of strategic and merger and acquisition related assignments.
  • North Highland Affiliated Consultant (2008) where she advised a major insurance company on right-sizing its finance and operations functions post divestiture of a significant subsidiary.

Ms. Field’s prior industry experience:

  • SVP of Strategy, Planning & Business Development (1997-1999) at Sears, Roebuck, a $40 billion multi-business company, where she was responsible for Financial Planning & Analysis, Capital Expenditure & Overhead Planning, Corporate & Business Strategy and the Business Development/M&A functions. Ms. Field led a strategic prioritization process resulting in the elimination of $800 million of capital to underperforming businesses, the sale of two major non-strategic subsidiaries to private equity firms, the elimination of 450 corporate positions and the expansion of the Company’s faster growing home services and e-commerce businesses. Ms. Field also represented Sears on three independent Boards of Directors.
  • Chief Financial Officer of Organic, Inc. (1999-2001) where she developed and managed the Company’s corporate infrastructure for this international technology services firm. Ms. Field led the Company’s $135 million IPO through Goldman Sachs in 2000 and instituted numerous public company controls and reporting capabilities.
  • Chief Financial Officer of Vitamin Cottage Natural Grocers (2006-2008) where she successfully prepared the Company for an IPO including automating many key operating and financial processes for this multi-location, regional retailer with significant growth aspirations.
